What Are Wood Pellets?

Wood pellets are compressed cylinders of pure wood fibre, made from Pinus Radiata sawdust, shavings, and forestry residue. No additives, no chemicals.

Each pellet is bound naturally by lignin, the same substance that gives wood its structure. The result is a dense, dry fuel that burns consistently, handles easily, and stores cleanly.

How Are They Made?

Wood fibre is screened, dried, hammered and compressed through a die under high pressure at our Taupo plant. Once cooled, pellets are packaged into 15kg bags, loaded into one-tonne bulk bags, or dispatched loose to commercial and export customers.

Every pellet is uniform in size, shape, and specification, making them reliable for automated boiler systems and more consistent than wood chips or hog fuel.

Why Businesses Are Switching to Wood Pellets

ETS and Fuel Costs

Coal, gas, and diesel costs are rising due to global supply instability and New Zealand’s ETS levies. Wood pellets are exempt from ETS entirely. As carbon prices rise, that exemption grows more valuable every year.

Industry Momentum

Businesses across New Zealand are moving to, wood pellets as they are cheaper to run and more predictable to budget around. The commercial case has already been made. The question is whether your operation is ahead of it or behind it.

Proven at Scale

Our pellets are used across small school boilers, large manufacturing sites, and dairy processing. The technology is proven, the supply chain is established, and results are well documented.

The Carbon Story

Biomass emits just 0.0029 kg CO₂-e per kWh, a 98% reduction vs coal and diesel, and gas. 97% . The reason is simple: the carbon released when pellets burn is the same carbon the tree absorbed during growth. A closed loop, not a net addition.

Fossil fuels work the other way. Coal and gas have stored carbon underground for millions of years. Burning them releases carbon that was never part of the current cycle.

Our pellets are made from FSC-certified forestry residue that would otherwise go to landfill. When a tree is harvested, another is planted. The cycle continues.

Certified Quality, Independently Verified

Our pellets meet IWPB Industrial I2 specification and DINplus A1 certification. We're annually assessed by the Bioenergy Association of New Zealand under their Wood Fuel Supply Accreditation Scheme. Even our ash is BioGro-certified as organic fertiliser input.

Consistent Specification, Every Tonne

Commercial customers can't budget around a fuel that varies. We produce to the same specification tonne after tonne, which means your boiler runs consistently and your energy costs stay predictable.

New Zealand Made, New Zealand Owned

We manufacture from our Taupō plant, which means we control quality from raw fibre through to delivery. No international shipping variability, no import price exposure, no middlemen. Just the same quality pellet, every time.

Stable Pricing, Long-Term Contracts

Other fuel sources inclulding gas, coal and electricity move with global markets or climate challenges. Ours don't, we supply wood pellets on long term contracts with fixed pricing, so your commercial team can model energy spend years out without the guesswork. Flexible renewal options are available too.
